NEW DELHI: India’s ‘showman’ director Subhash Ghai was officially invited to the consecration ceremony of Ram temple in Ayodhya on January 22, that witnessed a congregation of esteemed dignitaries from various strata of society.

The director, who has given hits like ‘Hero’, ‘Khalnayak’, ‘Pardes’ and ‘Taal’ while speaking to The New Indian’s Executive Editor Rohan Dua, shared that Ramayana, the epic of Lord Ram, has shaped him, his movies and stories. “This is India’s historic day. I think Bharat’s journey has begun again. What the Prime Minister said while addressing the public was absolutely correct since when a child will hear about Lord Ram’s values and virtues, these little ones will also follow the same,” he said.

He further spoke about remembering his mother reciting him Ramayana in childhood while there was chanting of mantras during the consecration ceremony performed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Ghai told TNI, “When I was listening to the chanting of mantras at the consecration ceremony, I reminisced about my mother reciting Ramayana in Sanskrit in my childhood. She taught me about values. That’s why, the influence of Ramayana runs very deep into my movies, my stories, and on me as well.”
