NEW DELHI: Filmmaker Boney Kapoor, along with the Delhi-based Bhutani Group, has received the final site clearance approval from the Yogi Adityanath government to develop a film city in Greater Noida.
This project is located near the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar. It aims to transform the region into a premier filmmaking hub. The Film Cityโs prime location offers seamless connectivity, enhancing its appeal to filmmakers and production houses.
The Film City is slated to span 1,000 acres in Sector 21, with the initial phase covering 230 acres at an estimated cost of โน1,510 crore.
The development will be executed over eight years, with the first phase expected to be completed within three years.
The facility will feature state-of-the-art studios, production houses, a film academy, and entertainment zones, providing comprehensive infrastructure for both domestic and international filmmakers.
The consortium of Bayview Projects LLP and Bhutani Group secured the project by offering an 18% revenue share to the Uttar Pradesh government, surpassing bids from other contenders, including T-Series and consortiums led by actor Akshay Kumar and producer KC Bokadia.
As per the agreement, the developers will begin sharing revenue with the government after an eight-year moratorium period.
The project will also include essential infrastructure such as an electrical substation, sewage treatment plant, water tanks, and an energy center.
A 12-meter-wide setback line will be implemented to maintain proper spacing between buildings, adhering to urban planning norms.
In line with sustainable development practices, the project mandates the establishment of a film institute and obtaining GRIHA 4-Star or IGBC Gold certification. These certifications are crucial for green buildings, ensuring minimal ecological impact and reduced carbon footprint during construction.
Expressing his enthusiasm, Boney Kapoor stated, โI always dreamt of having a film studio of my own someday. I have got it now. So far, I have shot three of my films in UP, which will soon become a hub of filmmaking.โ He emphasized the projectโs potential to attract both Indian and international filmmakers, offering comprehensive facilities that rival global standards.
With the layout plan approved by the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA), construction is poised to begin imminently. The developers are coordinating with government officials to finalize a date for the foundation-laying ceremony, anticipated to occur soon.
