NEW DELHI – In a shocking incident early this morning, Bollywood actor Govinda was hospitalized after accidentally shooting himself in the leg. The mishap occurred around 4:45 AM at his residence in Mumbai while he was handling his licensed revolver.
Govinda, 60, was preparing to leave for Kolkata when the revolver slipped from his hand, causing a bullet to discharge and injure his leg. He was immediately rushed to CritiCare Hospital, where he underwent surgery to remove the bullet. According to his daughter, Tina Ahuja, the surgery was successful, and the actor is currently stable but will remain in the ICU for 24 hours for observation.
According to sources, no one was present at his home at the time of the incident, and the actor was alone. After suffering the injury, he reportedly called his relatives, who arranged for medical assistance. Both the hospital staff and the police are expected to brief the media shortly regarding his condition and the incident.

The police have seized the weapon and are investigating the incident. Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, who was not in Mumbai at the time, is on her way to the hospital. His manager, Shashi Sinha, confirmed that the actor is out of danger and recuperating well. The police will be recording his statement soon to understand the circumstances surrounding the accident.
Govinda, a beloved figure in Bollywood known for his roles in numerous hit films and his energetic dance moves, has also been active in politics. He recently joined the Shiv Sena party earlier this year. Fans and colleagues from the film industry have expressed their relief at the news of his stable condition and are wishing him a speedy recovery.
