BJP’s mega win in Rajasthan with 3 Ministers, speaker

Out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan, BJP won 14 seats, Congress won 8, while CPI(M), Bharat Adivasi Party, and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party each won one seat.

NEW DELHI: The Election Commission of India announced the results of the Lok Sabha election 2024 on Tuesday. Out of 25 Lok Sabha seats in Rajasthan, BJP won 14 seats, Congress won 8, while CPI(M), Bharat Adivasi Party, and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party each won one seat.

Three Modi cabinet ministers, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, Bhupender Yadav, and Arjun Ram Meghwal, won this election from different seats. Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla also won.

Union Minister for Environment, Forest, and Climate Change Bhupender Yadav won from Alwar Lok Sabha constituency with a margin of 48,282 votes, receiving 631,992 votes. Lalit Yadav of Congress was the runner-up, getting 583,710 votes. Mahant Balaknath was the Member of Parliament from Alwar, but during last year’s Rajasthan Assembly polls, he contested the Tijara constituency and won that seat. Bhupender Yadav will replace Mahant Balaknath.

Union Minister of Law and Justice Arjun Ram Meghwal won from Bikaner Lok Sabha constituency with a margin of 55,711 votes, receiving 566,737 votes. Govindram Meghwal of Congress was the runner-up, securing 511,026 votes. Arjun Ram Meghwal has been the Member of Parliament from Bikaner since 2009. Meghwal’s vote percentage has increased over time.

Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat won from Jodhpur Lok Sabha constituency with a margin of 114,750 votes, receiving 722,978 votes. Karan Singh Uchiyarda of Congress was the runner-up, getting 608,228 votes. Shekhawat has been the Member of Parliament from this seat since 2014.

Om Birla, Speaker of the Lok Sabha, also won from Kota Lok Sabha constituency with a margin of 41,974 votes, receiving 750,496 votes. Prahlad Gunjal of Congress was the runner-up, getting 708,522 votes. Om Birla has been the incumbent from Kota since 2014. Birla’s vote share increased over the last two general elections but slightly declined this time.

In the general election of 2019, out of 25 seats, BJP won 24 and one seat was won by the Rastriya Janata Party (RJP).

Main issues during Lok Sabha elections in Rajasthan were farmers’ protest, women wrestlers’ protests, employment and infrastructure.
