JAIPUR: With Ram Mandir posters and lights adorning the BJP party office in Jaipur, they are all set to welcome the new CM of Rajasthan.

On Tuesday, a significant legislative party meeting is scheduled in Rajasthan, where all elected MLAs will convene to deliberate on the next Chief Minister for the desert state.

Following the surprise developments in Chhattisgarh and Madhya Pradesh, where the BJP made unexpected changes in leadership, the attention is now on Rajasthan.

The BJP is keeping everyone guessing about who will be the next CM of the desert state. Mahant Baba Balaknath, CP Joshi, Diya Kumari, Vasundhara Raje, or someone new candidate—speculation abounds as the BJP contemplates its choice for the next chief minister.

Immediately after the announcement of the party meeting on Monday, over 17 MLAs paid a visit to the residence of BLP leader Vasundhara Raje in the Civil Lines area.

Raje, who is a stalwart leader in the saffron party, is undoubtedly the top CM candidate for the BJP in Rajasthan. However, during the recent election campaign, the party emphasised a “collective leadership” approach, with the central leadership taking charge.

While Raje has been a prominent Chief Minister in 2003 and 2013, the question now is whether she will secure the top position again. It’s worth noting that even with Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s popularity and successful welfare programmes, he couldn’t secure a fifth term as Madhya Pradesh CM.

BJP, known for its disciplined approach, is unlikely to have its decisions overruled. The legislative meeting is set to commence at 4 pm and will be overseen by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, BJP national vice president Saroj Pandey, and national general secretary Vinod Tawde.

Tight security arrangements on the ground are in place, and the BJP headquarters is illuminated in anticipation of welcoming the next CM of Rajasthan.

The party’s clear engagement in caste politics is evident, seen in the selection of a Gond tribal minister from Surguja in Chhattisgarh and a three-time MLA and OBC Yadav CM in Madhya Pradesh.

Having secured 115 out of 199 seats in Rajasthan, the BJP demonstrates clear dominance as the Lok Sabha Polls approach.

A new Chief Minister for Rajasthan is expected to be announced by the evening.
