BJP’s Anil Vij leads by 4000 votes in Ambala Cantt, according to the latest data from the Election Commission
NEW DELHI: In the Haryana Assembly Elections 2024, BJP heavyweight and six-time legislator Anil Vij is Leading over Independent candidate Chitra Sarwara in the Ambala Cantt constituency. As the vote counting progresses, Vij finds himself leading by over 4000 votes, according to the latest data from the Election Commission (EC).
Vij, who has been a key figure in Haryana politics for over 30 years, is contesting the Ambala Cantt seat for the seventh time. Despite being a seasoned politician and a prominent face of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the state, early trends indicate that he is facing stiff competition from Sarwara, an independent candidate. Congress’ Parvinder Pal Pari, though in the race, has not been a major contender as of now.
Anil Vij has held several significant portfolios in the Haryana state government, including health and medical education, and his popularity in Ambala Cantt has remained largely unchallenged until now. With a strong voter base and a legacy of six consecutive victories, this election has put his political standing to the test.
As the counting of votes continues, Vij remains confident of his victory . “These are early trends, and I am sure I will secure a win once all the votes are counted,” he said earlier. He has also assured that the BJP will return to power with a clear majority in the state.
Ambala Cantt has become a battleground, with Chitra Sarwara’s unexpected rise turning the race into a tightly contested fight. All eyes remain on the final results as the fate of this key constituency is determined.
