Fourth term member of the Parliament, Anurag Thakur is a dynamic young Union Minister of Information & Broadcasting and Youth Affairs & Sports in the present BJP government. In Lucknow, to campaign for Lucknow east constituency candidate, Ashutosh Tandon (who is currently serving as the Minister of Urban development in the Yogi Adityanath government), Thakur has been lending his clout to highlight the developments of the BJP government in the state.
Speaking to The New Indian, in between hectic campaigning, he asserted that the BJP will be voted back to power in the state based on the incredible work that the party has carried out in the state, especially in the last five years. “All developments speak in the favour of the BJP. People are especially excited with the ‘Gareeb Kalyan policy’ under which 43 lakh poor people got mud houses. In addition to this, 1.5 crore people have received electricity connection and 1.86 crore women received gas connections. In the last few years, 15 crore people got ‘ration’ twice and up to Rs. 5 lakh received health treatment. All these figures go on to prove that Modi ji and Yogi ji have been working hard on the ground.”
Dismissing the claims made by the Samajwadi Party (SP) post phase two polling that half the battle is already won, he said: “They (SP) will not get 100 seats even after the seventh phase of polling. I have a firm believe that people will vote for the BJP to make Uttar Pradesh terror free, riots free and corruption-free state.”
Anarchy and law and order mess is being actively touted as the SP bane by the BJP. The party has been alleging SP’s terror connect in all its poll campaigns. But do these allegations hold ground? There is proof enough, he insists. “Ahmedabad bomb blast judgement is a clear proof that the family of mastermind terrorist is connected with the Samajwadi Party. On one hand, the party has been offering ‘Biryani’ to their family head and on the other the rest of the party members have maintained strict silence over this issue.”
He also countered the Congress party’s claims that BJP has done nothing for the women. “All poster girls of Priyanka ji have gone,” he said taking a dig at Priyanka Gandhi’s slogan, Ladki hoon, lad sakti hoon. “ It is in fact Modi ji and Yogi ji who have ensured full security to women in the society so they can live with respect,” he added.
Debunking the persisting superstition that no ruling party has repeated term in UP since 2003, he said: “Modi ji won twice at Centre. Now, UP will mark a historic win by crossing the 300 mark,” he predicted.
