BJP to Pick Delhi CM at 7 PM, Oath Ceremony on Feb 20

NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is set to convene its Delhi Legislative Party meeting today at 7 PM to finalize the selection of the new Chief Minister for Delhi.

This decision comes nearly two weeks after the party’s victory in the Delhi Assembly elections held on February 5, marking BJP’s return to power in the capital after 26 years.

The meeting will take place at the BJP state office located at 14 Pant Marg. Senior party leaders Ravi Shankar Prasad and Om Prakash Dhankhar have been appointed as central observers for the election of the legislative party leader.

Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva expressed confidence in the leadership and stated that the meeting is a significant step towards forming the new government.

The newly elected Chief Minister, along with the council of ministers, is scheduled to take the oath of office at Ramlila Maidan on February 20, at 11 AM.

The ceremony is expected to be a grand affair, with approximately 30,000 guests, including industrialists, celebrities, and BJP workers from other states who contributed to the election campaign.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, BJP National President JP Nadda, and other senior leaders are anticipated to attend the event.

BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh highlighted that the ceremony would honor the common people, stating, “Every poor, common person is the biggest VIP, and they will be present here to bless PM Narendra Modi and the new cabinet.”

He also emphasized that under PM Modi’s leadership, Delhi is poised to progress towards becoming a world-class capital.

This development follows the BJP’s decisive victory over the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the recent elections, signaling a significant political shift in Delhi’s governance.
