NEW DELHI: Former Minister and Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Ashutosh Tandon and BJP MLA Dr Neeraj Vora have been nominated as members of the prestigious Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI) in Lucknow.

The nomination of the two MLAs as members of SGPGI was confirmed through an official order issued on Tuesday.

Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly speaker Satish Mahana selected Lucknow North MLA Dr Neeraj Vora and Lucknow East MLA Ashutosh Tandon for this role. As members of SGPGI, they will contribute to the institute’s medical services, education, and research-related endeavours.

Expressing his gratitude to Chief minister Yogi Adityanath, Speaker Mahana, and Parliamentary Affairs minister Mayankeshwar Sharan Singh, Dr Neeraj Vora conveyed his commitment to working towards enhancing the medical facilities provided by SGPGI.

The nomination of these MLAs as members reflects the government’s dedication to promoting the development and quality of healthcare services in Uttar Pradesh.

SGPGI, established in 1983, is a renowned institute located in the capital city of Lucknow. Situated approximately 15 kilometres from the main city on Rae Bareli Road, it offers comprehensive tertiary medical facilities to patients. The institute ensures that all required tests, treatments, and consultations are available under one roof, alleviating the burden on patients. Notably, SGPGI extends its services free of charge to all patients, irrespective of their medical condition.

“The inclusion of Ashutosh Tandon and Dr Neeraj Vora as members of SGPGI is expected to further strengthen the institute’s capabilities and contribute to the advancement of healthcare in Uttar Pradesh,” a source in the government said.

“Their valuable insights and experience as elected representatives will aid in the continuous improvement of medical facilities and services at SGPGI, benefiting patients from across the region,” the source added.
