BJP Is A Party Of Workers, Not Of A Particular Family: Anurag Thakur

SHIMLA: Anurag Thakur, Union minister of sports, youth affairs and minister of information and broadcasting, on Saturday asserted that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is a party of workers and not of a particular family.

Thakur’s comments came while interacting with the media at BJYM national executive meet in Dharamshala. His comments came on the backdrop of the sudden resignation of Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Deb.

Initially, Thakur said that he was travelling and had no knowledge of Tripura CM’s resignation. But when apprised by the media and following The New Indian’s question on whether the party’s decision to replace its sitting Chief Ministers is a ploy to beat the anti-incumbency factor, Thakur said, “Yediyurappa resigned from his post to give a chance to a young face. It was his will and he showed his big heart by making this move. Moreover, BJP is not a party dependent on one family or person, it’s a party of workers.”

When asked about the recent incident of Khalistani flags being put up at the entrance of Himachal Pradesh’s assembly complex in Dharamshala, Thakur said, “After long unrest, Punjab has seen decades of peaceful rule of various governments. But now this unrest among the society, brawls between Hindu and Sikh communities, and pro-Khalistani activities are a matter of concern.”

Thakur also pointed out an old incident when Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal had allegedly stayed in the house of a Khalistani terrorist.
