BJP leaders shortlisting potential candidates, demonstrating a proactive approach towards fielding strong contenders
NEW DELHI: In a crucial meeting of the BJP’s Maharashtra core group meeting held on Monday – discussions revolved around the allocation of 25 seats in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Reflecting on the outcomes of the 2019 elections, where 23 seats were secured while two were lost, the party strategized meticulously for the forthcoming polls.
Each constituency saw BJP leaders shortlisting potential candidates, demonstrating a proactive approach towards fielding strong contenders. The meeting witnessed the presence of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, State BJP head Chandrashekhar Bawankule, Union Minister for Railways Raosaheb Danve, Minister in state Sudhir Munghantiwar, MLA Pravin Darekar, Mumbai BJP. Chief Ashish Shelar underscored the significance of the deliberations.

As per sources few names submitted are Union Minister Nitin Gadkari for Nagpur, Raosaheb Danve for Jalna, Sudhir Munghantiwar for Chandrapur, Murli Mohol for Pune, Sanjay Kaka Patil for Sangli, Kapil Patil for Bhiwandi, Union Minister of State for Health Bharti Pawar and Pankaja Munde from Beed. These names were submitted to the CEC for a meeting, indicating a significant step towards finalizing the party’s candidate list. However, the source said the final call is always of CEC members.
In a notable development, the BJP is gearing up to relinquish a substantial number of seats to its ally, Shiv Sena. Plans are underway to vacate 11 to 12 seats, primarily in favour of Eknath Shinde. This strategic move underscores BJP’s commitment to fostering strong coalition partnerships within the #NDA fold, respecting the contributions of its allies.
