Polls for the Municipal Corporation of Delhi are scheduled to be held on December 4.
Questioning AAP’s decision to make Gautam one of the star campaigners, BJP leaders pointed out how he could be appointed as a star campaigner by being “anti-Hindu”. They also said the AAP’s anti-Hindu face has been exposed.
According to the BJP leaders, Gautam is accused of forcing Hindus to adopt Buddhism. He had to resign from the state cabinet after a video of the renouncing ceremony appeared on social media last month.
BJP MP Manoj Tiwari said the way Gautam is made a star campaigner means, Arvind Kejriwal is anti-Hindu and against deities. “Arvind Kejriwal, you are caught today. You are anti-Hindu and anti-Hindu deities. Because you have made a person your party’s star campaigner who has abused ‘Brahma, Vishnu, Bhagwan Ram and Bhagwan Krishna’,” said Manoj Tiwari.
BJP leader Kapil Mishra also released a video statement and said the appointment of Gautam as a star campaigner shows that Kejriwal is behind Gautam in abusing Hindus.
“Kejriwal has made Rajendra Pal Gautam a star campaigner in the Delhi Corporation elections. It is clear that Rajendra Pal Gautam himself is not doing the work of converting Hindus, but Kejriwal’s anti-Hindu agenda is behind him.”
BJP leader Harish Khurana said this shows the “double standard” of AAP. He said Gautam was removed from the cabinet because of pressure due to the Gujarat elections and is now appointed as the star campaigner for the AAP party.
“This is the double standard of AAP. First, they removed him from the post because of the Gujarat election, and now they have appointed him the star campaigner of the party,” Khurana said.
He also said Gautam has been appointed as a star campaigner to make a particular community happy. “The AAP wants to make a particular community happy as MCD elections are happening in Delhi,” Khurana said.
