BJP has officially revealed its candidates for the Rajya Sabha by-elections across several states
NEW DELHI: The Bharatiya Janata Party has officially revealed its candidates for the Rajya Sabha by-elections across several states. The Central Election Committee of the party has approved the names of candidates from Assam, Bihar, Haryana, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Rajasthan, and Tripura. The Rajya Sabha elections are scheduled for September 3.
From Assam, the BJP has fielded Shri Mission Ranjan Das and Shri Rameshwar Teli for the Rajya Sabha seats. In Bihar, the CEC has chosen Shri Manan Kumar Mishra as its candidate. Mishra is a prominent legal expert and former Bar Council Chairman. Additionally, Kiran Choudhary, who recently left Congress to join the BJP, will also be a candidate for the Rajya Sabha from Haryana.
From Madhya Pradesh, Shri George Kurian has been nominated. The list further includes Shri Dhairyashil Patil from Maharashtra, a candidate with significant regional influence, and Smt. Mamata Mohanta from Odisha, an emerging face in the state’s political landscape. In Rajasthan, the BJP has put forward Sardar Ravneet Singh Bittu. Finally, in Tripura, the BJP’s choice is Shri Rajib Bhattacharjee, a seasoned leader in the northeastern state.
The Election Commission has announced that elections for 12 vacant Rajya Sabha seats across nine states will be held on September 3. These seats became vacant after several sitting members, including Union Ministers Piyush Goyal, Sarbananda Sonowal, and Jyotiraditya Scindia, were elected to the Lok Sabha.

Additionally, by-elections will be held for two Rajya Sabha seats in Telangana and Odisha. In Telangana, K. Keshav Rao recently resigned from his Rajya Sabha seat after leaving the Bharat Rashtra Samithi to join Congress. Meanwhile, in Odisha, Biju Janata Dal MP Mamata Mohanta resigned from her Rajya Sabha seat and the primary membership of the party.
