The police have so far arrested two accused, Atul Rai and Abhishek alias Karan, in the case. Saran SP has also suspended Manjhi Police Station’s in-charge, Devanand, after an investigation.

In a clear sign of lawlessness in Bihar, three youths mercilessly beat up three others over an old electoral rivalry. According to the police, one of the accused has a close association with the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).

The incident occurred in Bihar’s Chhapra, where the attackers beat three persons, whose hands were tied, with iron rods and pipes. One of the victims died due to bleeding.

Police arrested one of the accused, while the two surviving victims have been taken to the hospital.

A video of three men beating three youths has gone viral on social media. The video is from Saran’s Manjhi police station area. In this video, three youths are seen being beaten by some people in a chicken farmhouse at Sidariya.

The case pertains to Mubarakpur village, under the Manjhi police station area of Chhapra. Sources said one of the absconding accused, Vijay Yadav’s wife, stood for election from the Manjhi area during the recent civic body elections in Bihar. But these three youths did not vote for his wife.

Enraged by this, Yadav and his accomplices attacked the three youths while they were roaming around on the farm. The three accused took the three, Amitesh Kumar, 35, Rahul Kumar, 23, and Alok Kumar, 25, as hostages and started beating them with sticks.

After the mob lynching, the accused alleged that the three youths fired at Vijay Yadav’s wife two days earlier and hence attacked them.

Manjhi police said, “One person, who was beaten up in the viral video, has died. One person has been arrested in this case. The arrested person has been identified as Atul Yadav. We are making efforts to arrest the rest of the accused. Soon everyone will be arrested.”

Sources said that Vijay Yadav has a criminal background and looks after the work in a panchayat in the name of his wife. Yadav has close ties to the ruling Rashtriya Janata Dal leaders and is also said to be close to the area’s MLA.
