In yet another shocking incident in Bihar, the service pistol of inspector general (IG) of police Vikas Vaibhav has allegedly been stolen from his residence in Patna.
The son of a home guard, who worked as a domestic help at his residence in a police colony, has been taken into custody on suspicion of stealing the officer’s 9MM licensed pistol with 30 rounds of bullets.
“Sudhanshu, the domestic help is being interrogated,” said a police official, adding that the pistol is yet to be recovered.
“IG Vikas had organised a birthday party at his house and the home guard’s son was there for cleaning work. Vikas suspect that he may have stolen the pistol. His interrogation is under process. However, the police have not recovered the pistol yet,” said Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Manavjeet Singh Dhillo.
The party was organised on Wednesday evening. The Next day, IG Vikas could not find his service pistol even after searching his entire house and informed the SSP.
According to police officials, Sudhanshu seems to be mentally unstable and did not give any clear answers to their questions, which further led to suspicions further.
A first information report (FIR) has been registered at Gardanibagh police station in the city against two persons – Sudhanshu and another boy Punit.
The police station in charge reportedly said that Sudhanshu sold the pistol to Punit, who is still at large.
According to local media, accused Sudhanshu is a patient of epilepsy.
Simultaneously, the Patna Police are also seized the footage of CCTV cameras of the officer’s house and neighbourhood for further evidence.
