Bihar Police Declares Actress Akshara Singh ‘Absconder’

Bihar Police have pasted a notice outside the residence of Bhojpuri actress Akshara Singh, declaring her an ‘absconder’ in a case related to violation of Covid norms and celebratory firing.

The notice asks the actress to appear before a court, where the trial of the case is being held.

In November last year, Singh performed at a family event of local strongman Munna Shukla in Vaishali district during the lockdown in violation of Covid restrictions. Shots were also fired in the air by Shukla’s security personnel as she performed on the stage on the occasion of the ‘Upanayana Sanskar’s of his nephew.

A video of the incident went viral on social media platforms, prompting the local police to take Suo moto cognizance.

Actor Akshara, strongman Shukla, his wife and bodyguards were booked in an FIR under Section 188 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), Section 27 of the Arms Act, and Disaster Management Act, 2005.

A non-bailable warrant was issued against the actress and other accused in the case last month. However, she has failed to appear before the court or secure bail.

A police official said that actress Akshara could be arrested if she does not appear before the court. “As per our knowledge, she is currently in Mumbai. We will send a team to Mumbai to arrest her if need if,” the officer said.

However, her advocate Amrendra Kumar said that he has no knowledge about the notice. “I got to know about this development from social media,” he reportedly said, adding that he has moved an application for anticipatory bail.

One of the highest paid actresses in Bhojpuri cinema, Akshara is known for her roles in films like action drama Tabadala, political drama Sarkar Raj and action romance Satya.

Apart from Bhojpuri, she has also worked in various television shows. She was also a contestant in the popular reality Bigg Boss show in 2021.
