Bihar: Naxal Attack On Security Forces Foiled in Aurangabad

Security forces have foiled a major Naxal attack in Aurangabad. In a joint operation by the Commando Battalion for Resolute Action (CoBRA) and the district police, the security forces recovered cache of arms and ammunition on Thursday. The police conducted a search operation based on the information. However, the Naxals fled the spot after the search operation.

Aurangabad Superintendent of Police Kantesh Kumar Mishra said the police received a tip off that preparations for a major attack was being made on the security forces in Bandh block, Katriba Dobha village and the adjoining hill areas, which are known to be Naxal hotbeds in the districts.

Following the information, a joint search operation was launched against the Naxals in these areas by Additional Superintendent of Police (Operations) Mukesh Kumar, Deputy Commandant of Kabra Vahini Deepak, Assistant Commandant Ambuj Kumar Srivastava and a joint team of local police.

“Two nine MM pistols, two knives, two pistols, three magazines of INSAS rifle and 120 rounds of 5.56 MM INSAS rifle were recovered from the spot. All the arms and ammunition have been brought to the Madanpur police station. A case under Sections 147, 148, 149, 307, 353, 120 B, 251-B, 26-35 Arms Act and 13, 16, 18, 20 UAPA has been registered at Madanpur police station. A total of 11 accused have been arrested in the case. The raids will continue to be conducted to curb Naxal activities,” said Superintendent of Police Kantesh Kumar Mishra
