Biden’s G7 Summit actions trigger health concerns: video sparks debate

NEW DELHI: A video capturing US President Joe Biden seemingly disoriented at the G7 summit in Italy has stirred debate over his fitness for office, reigniting concerns about his cognitive health.

During a skydiving demonstration, Biden appeared distracted and wandered away from the group of world leaders. He engaged with an officer packing a parachute before Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni intervened to guide him back to the event. The incident, caught on camera, prompted scrutiny on social media and beyond, with critics questioning Biden’s ability to serve effectively.

White House Senior Deputy Press Secretary Andrew Bates defended Biden, dismissing the clip as distorted. “He’s saying congratulations to one of the divers and giving a thumbs up,” Bates clarified.

This was not the only awkward incident involving Biden at the summit. A separate video showed him awkwardly saluting Meloni before exiting the stage.

Biden’s public appearances have often been under scrutiny due to several instances where he appeared confused or disoriented. Critics have cited these incidents as evidence of declining mental acuity, a narrative that gained traction during his presidential campaign and has persisted.

Despite these concerns, Biden actively participated in discussions at the G7 summit, focusing on global issues such as the war in Ukraine, artificial intelligence, and migration. Leaders deliberated on supporting Ukraine, proposing a significant $50 billion loan using frozen Russian assets.

The G7 summit brought together leaders from Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, the United Kingdom, and the United States. The event underscored the challenges and diplomatic efforts amid ongoing global tensions.
