A day after Madhya Pradesh Home Minister Narottam Mishra threatened ban on the film Pathan for offending Hindu sentiments, activists from a group called Veer Shivaji burnt the film’s lead actor Shah Rukh Khan’s poster at Malwa Square of Indore.

They demanded a ban on the film. They shouted slogans against Shah Rukh Khan.

A day earlier, Mishra had objected to actor Deepika Padukone’s attire in the ‘Besharam Rang’ album song.

“Pathaan will not be released in Madhya Pradesh unless the outfits and scenes in the film are changed, the actor has disrespected the religious colour (saffron colour). The visuals in songs reflect the mentality of makers of the film,” said the Minister.

Further Minister Narottam Mishra added that the costumes and scenes should be corrected or deleted. Otherwise, the Madhya Pradesh government will have to take a call on whether the film should be banned.

In a tweet, Mishra called actor Deepika Padukone a supporter of the tukde-tukde gang. “The costumes are highly objectionable, and the song was shot with a dirty mindset,” he said.

The “tukde-tukde gang” comment was coined in the aftermath of a protest in JNU in Delhi in 2016 and mostly used by BJP leaders.

The minister was enraged by the film’s use of saffron bikini that is being worn by actor Deepika Padukone in Besharam Rang album song.

Narottam Mishra’s statement came after a song, “Besharam Rang”, featuring actor Deepika Padukone and Shah Rukh Khan-starrer was released on December 12.

The Movie Pathan is scheduled to release next year, on January 25.
