Sukanya Mondal, daughter of arrested Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Anubrata Mondal, on Monday cited her mental condition as she dodged the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) team that reached their Bolpur house.
The CBI is investigating the cattle smuggling case. During its investigation, the CBI found many documents that establish Mondal’s direct link with the sensational case on Bengal’s Indo-Bangladesh border.
During the investigation, the CBI learnt that Mondal’s daughter had amassed assets such as houses, lands and multiple bank accounts. The Bureau also found multiple joint accounts of Mondal and his daughter along with joint properties.
Sources told The New Indian that the CBI intended to quiz Mondal’s daughter regarding this huge property. The agency suspects that Mondal’s daughter’s bank accounts were used for financial transactions.
However, Sukanya Mondal informed the team that reached their house, that she is not in the right mental condition to give answers to their questions. She said that she had lost her mother (in January 2020) and her father is in CBI custody. She said that she needed time to be stable before answering.
With no chance to quiz Sukanya Mondal, the CBI team left Mondal’s residence in just 10 minutes. Interestingly, the lawyer for Mondal reached their residence before the CBI.
