Actor-director Satish Kaushik, who died under mysterious circumstances on Wednesday, partied with friends on the occasion of Holi in Mumbai and Delhi a day before. A preliminary autopsy suggested he died of a heart attack.

The panel of doctors conducted a post-mortem examination on him at Delhi’s Deen Dayal Upadhyay (DDU) hospital on Thursday afternoon. His mortal remains were later handed over to his relative and manager Santosh Rai.

According to the preliminary report, he died of a heart attack, the police said, ruling out any foul play.

However, his viscera have been preserved for further examination.

A day before Holi, Kaushik had attended a Holi party at lyricist Javed Akhtar’s residence in Mumbai. He also put some photos of the Holi party on his Twitter account.

On Wednesday, he came to Delhi at a farmhouse located in Southwest Delhi’s Bijwasan where he along with his relatives and friends attended the Holi party and went to sleep in the night. Over a dozen of persons were present at the farmhouse during the party.

At the midnight, he complained of chest pain and his manager was informed. He was immediately rushed to Fortis Hospital in Gurugram where he was declared brought dead.

On being informed, Delhi Police took his body back to Delhi and conducted a post-mortem examination on him at DDU Hospital.

Speaking to media persons, his manager Santosh Rai said that he did not drink and went to sleep at 9.30 pm on Wednesday. “He was all well and was not having any problem before going to sleep,” he added.

“At about 10.30 – 11 pm, he called me and told me that he experienced pain in the chest and was having problems in breathing. We rushed him to Fortis Hospital where he was declared dead,” said Rai.

His death has prompted a flood of condolences from Bollywood stars, including Anupam Kher, Kangana Ranaut, Amit Shah, Madhur Bhandarkar, and Vivek Agnihotri.

After the autopsy, his mortal remains were taken to Mumbai. His last rites were held at Versova Crematorium in Mumbai on Thursday evening. Actors like Salman Khan, Ranbir Kapoor, Shilpa Shetty, Pankaj Tripathi, and Sophie Choudry visited his house to pay their last respect.
