NEW DELHI: The brutal murder of Anwarul Azim Anar, a Member of Parliament from Bangladesh, has shocked both nations after he was found dismembered in Kolkata. The West Bengal Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested Jihad Hawladar, an illegal immigrant from Bangladesh, who has confessed to his involvement in the crime.
Anar had been missing since May 14, just two days after his arrival in Kolkata. According to CID sources, Hawladar disclosed that the murder was orchestrated by Akhtaruzzaman, a US citizen of Bangladeshi origin. Acting on Akhtaruzzaman’s orders, Hawladar and four other Bangladeshi nationals allegedly strangled Anar in an apartment in New Town, Kolkata.

The CID discovered bloodstains and several plastic bags at the crime scene, which are believed to have been used for disposing of Anar’s body parts. Investigators have revealed gruesome details of the murder, stating that after Anar was killed, his body was skinned, and the flesh was removed and minced to prevent identification, and the bones were cut into small pieces. The remains were then packed into plastic bags and disposed of at various locations across Kolkata.
The investigation gained momentum when Bangladesh Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan confirmed Anar’s murder and announced the arrest of three suspects. The CID is continuing its search for body parts and is working to uncover further details about the crime.
