Panda emphasized that the UCC is a fundamental pillar to ensure equal rights for all citizens, adding, “Because of the tragedy of partition, some parts of the agenda were left unfinished. But there was always a clear direction to implement them, and UCC was part of that.”
The BJP leader explained that vote bank politics often prevents the implementation of such laws.
“UCC doesn’t suit the interests of vote bank politics because they pander to different groups,” Panda said. “But sooner or later, it has to happen.”

Panda pointed out that under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, the BJP government has been fulfilling many of these long-standing objectives, such as the abrogation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Now UCC has reached a stage where it is being taken up state by state,” he said.
