NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Member of Parliament Sanjay Singh on Monday said after first highlighting the issue in 2021, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has finally admitted to corruption in the purchase of land for the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.

Singh was reacting to the report of Ayodhya Development Authority accusing a local MLA and city mayor, along with 38 others, of illegally trading plots and building infrastructure in Ayodhya.

While releasing a statement, Singh said that the BJP has accepted that its leaders have been stealing thousands of crores in the name of Lord Shri Ram by making a fool out of the people.

Sharing more on the development, Singh said, “I had repeatedly informed CM Yogi Adityanath about the scam and submitted thousands of pieces of evidence but he allowed the land to be looted because the BJP leaders were behind the loot.”

“BJP’s faith lies in corruption, not Lord Shri Ram. It is because of their bigotry that the citizens are ashamed to see the BJP in power. Were the BJP people agitating for the temple because they wanted to earn money by selling the land near Shri Ram Mandir?” Singh wondered.

Notably, the BJP’s government had filed a sedition case against Singh when he raised the issue of corruption in the Ram Mandir construction but took no action against the corrupt.

Singh further said, “For the past year, I have been raising my voice against the land scam in the name of Lord Ram. Senior BJP leaders are involved in a land scam worth thousands of crores in an area in the vicinity of the Lord Ram Temple. When I raised my voice, cases were registered against me, which even involved cases of sedition. Nine FIRs within one day and a total of 23 FIRs were filed against me, but no action was taken against the people against whom I wanted an inquiry to take place.”

He added, “I wrote a letter on June 24, 2021, in which I mentioned that Accused no. 1 was none other than a BJP Mayor named Rishikesh Upadhayay. I also mentioned the name of Sultan Ansari and his family members. This letter was written to Nagar Kotwal and had the names of various accused. I said that these people are indulged in a land scam in the pious land of Ayodhya, which is the birthplace of Lord Ram.”
