NEW DELHI: In a recent incident, unknown individuals allegedly attempted to encroach upon 2.5 acres of government land near the Delhi Race Club, which belongs to the Public Works Department (PWD) of the Delhi Government. The allegations point to private individuals attempting to construct a house on government land.

 

According to a source, the matter was brought to the attention of the Delhi Police, who immediately filed a First Information Report (FIR) in connection with the incident. The source stated that the encroachment involved an attempt to construct a house on government land.

“The land belongs to the PWD and was allegedly being encroached upon by the Children Riding Club. We have now registered an FIR,” said the source. The complainant in the case is Suresh Kumar, a government official.

 

In his complaint, Kumar stated, “The land is located near the Delhi Race Club in the DID camp area. Vikas Karayla owns 2.5 acres of land which was being encroached upon. The Children Riding Club had illegally occupied it. This land was under the possession of the PWD department. During my inspection, I found three tents on the land along with some sofas and chairs. This was clearly an attempt to encroach upon government property.”

The police have registered an FIR under Section 329(3) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). The investigation into the matter is currently underway.
