NEW DELHI: The Russian Foreign Ministry of Moscow has accused the Kyiv regime of perpetrating a “heinous terrorist crime” against civilians in Sevastopol, Crimea on June 23. Four civilians including a two-year-old boy and a nine-year-old girl have reportedly died in the attack.

The attack coincided with Holy Trinity Sunday, a significant holiday for the Russian Orthodox Church. The incident saw missiles fired allegedly with support from the United States and its allies. A total of 151 individuals required medical assistance, with 82 of them, including 27 children, being hospitalized in critical condition.

According to Russia’s Defence Ministry, the assault employed US ATACMS operational missiles equipped with cluster warheads, enhancing their lethality. The US military’s involvement was purportedly guided by reconnaissance satellite data, alongside surveillance from a Global Hawk US drone stationed near Crimea.

The Investigative Committee of Russia promptly initiated an investigation into the attack, vowing severe repercussions for those found responsible for this and other terrorist acts within Russian territory. The statement from Moscow unequivocally implicated the United States in the incident, accusing Washington of nurturing the Kyiv regime and supporting its aggressive stance against Russia.

The international response to the incident, as depicted by Moscow, has been criticized for its perceived silence on the actions of the Kyiv regime. The Russian Federation called upon Western capitals and international organizations to condemn the barbarous actions facilitated by the Zelensky administration.

Sevastopol has declared a day of mourning in the wake of the tragedy. The Russian government extended gratitude for the expressions of sympathy from friendly nations and individuals worldwide. Meanwhile, condolences were conveyed to the families and friends of the victims, with hopes expressed for the swift recovery of the injured.

The incident has further strained relations between Russia and the West, escalating tensions already heightened by geopolitical conflicts in Eastern Europe.
