The Assam government had previously denied permission for the yatra to proceed through prime routes inside Guwahati, resulting in heightened security deployment at Khanapara, the entry point to the city.
The Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra, which re-entered Assam for its final leg, had travelled through the outskirts of Guwahati. Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to address a press conference at Damdama in Kamrup district, approximately 75 km from Guwahati, where the Yatra was scheduled for a lunch break.
