SRINAGAR : The breathtaking Indira Gandhi Memorial Tulip Garden, the largest of its kind in Asia, has been officially opened to visitors, marking the arrival of spring in Kashmir.
Nestled at the base of the Zabarwan Hills and offering a panoramic view of the iconic Dal Lake, the garden has transformed into a floral paradise, attracting travelers, photographers, and nature lovers from across the nation.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah inaugurated the garden, which spans an expansive 30 hectares and boasts over 1.7 million tulips across more than 60 varieties. The dazzling array of tulips, complemented by daffodils, hyacinths, and other spring blooms, creates a mesmerizing fusion of colors, making it one of the most sought-after attractions in the region.
Tourism officials expect a sharp rise in visitor numbers as the tulip bloom coincides with an uptick in tourist arrivals to the Valley. The garden will remain accessible to the public for approximately a month, depending on weather patterns and the longevity of the blossoms.
To enhance visitor experience and streamline crowd management, authorities have introduced an online ticketing system to minimize waiting times and avoid congestion at entry points.
With its stunning floral carpets and breathtaking backdrop, the Tulip Garden continues to be a symbol of Kashmir’s natural beauty and an integral part of its thriving tourism industry.
