Lovely has also mentioned that the Delhi Congress Unit was against an alliance with a Party (AAP) which was formed on the sole basis of levelling false, fabricated and malafide corruption charges against the Congress Party and in turn, whose half of the cabinet ministers are presently in jail on corruption charges. Despite that, the Party made a decision to ally with the AAP in Delhi.
NEW DELHI: In a major political development in Delhi amid ongoing Lok Sabha election preparations, the Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee (DPCC)’s president on Sunday resigned from his post indicating that he was against the coalition with the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP).
Arvinder Lovely wrote in his resignation that the Delhi Congress unit was against the coalition with a party that formed alliances against the Congress based on false, whimsical, and malicious corruption allegations. Despite this, the party decided to ally with AAP in Delhi.
“I write the present letter to you (Kharge) finding myself handicapped and unable to continue as the President of the Delhi Party Unit,” Lovely mentioned in his letter.

Lovely said that due to alliance with the AAP, he publicly withdrew his own name and opted out from being considered as a potential candidate. “Out of 3 seats, while rejecting the views of the PCC, all Observers and the Local Party Workers, the North-West Delhi and Northeast Delhi seats were given to two Candidates who were total strangers to the Delhi Congress and the Party Policies,” read his letter. He has written a few other reasons which compelled him to resign.
“All unanimous decisions taken by the Senior Delhi Congress Leaders have been unilaterally vetoed by the AICC General Secretary (Delhi In-charge). Since my appointment as DPCC President, the AICC General Secretary (Delhi In-charge) has not allowed me to make any senior appointments in the DPCC. My request for appointment of a Veteran Leader as Media Head of DPCC was blatantly rejected. Till date, AICC General Secretary (Delhi In-charge) has not allowed the DPCC to appoint all Block Presidents in the City. Resultantly, more than 150 Blocks in Delhi do not presently have a Block President,” read his letter.
