#ArrestKohli Trends On Twitter After Virat Fan Kills Rohit Sharma Fan

In a shocking incident, a 21-year-old man killed his friend in Tamil Nadu over a flaming argument over cricketers Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The accused S Dharmaraj, hailing from Poyyur village in Ariyalur district, has been arrested and is in judicial custody.

The deceased identified as P Vignesh, 24, and Dharmaraj got into an ugly tiff over who was a better cricketer – Rohit or Virat. Vignesh, who was reportedly a Rohit fan, impugned Dharmaraj’s opinion which drove the latter up the wall. The argument soon descended into a bloody brawl and resulted in Vignesh’s killing.

According to the Keelapalur police, both were discussing cricket in an open area near SIDCO Industrial Estate, near Mallur, on Tuesday night. Vignesh’s body was found the next morning by a group of workers who were on their way to the SIDCO factory and they informed the local police.

“Both had consumed liquor. As per the initial investigation, Vignesh was supporting Mumbai Indians in Indian Premier League (IPL) while Dharmaraj was a Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) supporter,” police said.

During the course of their debate, Vignesh had allegedly mocked RCB and Virat Kohli. Vignesh had the habit of body shaming Dharmaraj, who was a stammerer. On that day, he had made some remarks comparing the RCB team to the speaking difficulty of Dharmaraj. This infuriated Dharmaraj who attacked Vignesh with a bottle and later hit him with a cricket bat on the head. Dharmaraj soon fled the spot,” officials said.

There were reports of a rift between the two cricketers over captaincy last year and fans of these celebrated cricketers have often clashed on social media platforms. But this gruesome murder has stunned everyone including netizens.

After the incident, many people on Twitter started trending #ArrestKohli to express their ire. But many folks also came in support of Kohli and sensibly pointed out that the cricketer had nothing to do with the incident.
