Days after the Indian Army foiled an attempt to infiltrate the Line of Control (LoC) by a suspected Pakistani terrorist for the second time, it foiled another attempt by terrorists on Tuesday.

Reconnaissance by quadcopter showed the bodies of two infiltrating terrorists in the Lam area of Nowshera in Rajouri district, suggesting the Army had successfully foiled the attempt.

Senior Army officials from the Northern Command in Udhampur told The New Indian that an infiltration attempt by an unknown number of terrorists was foiled last night.

“The reconnaissance of the general area of the attempted infiltration site is in progress. In reconnaissance by quadcopter, two bodies of infiltrating terrorists have been observed. The area is being scanned further,” they said.

Earlier on Sunday, an intruder from Pakistan, who was trying to cross into India for the second time, was injured in Army firing in Rajouri. Initial investigations by J&K Police and other security agencies revealed that the accused was arrested in 2016 for trying to cross the Line of Control. He remained in jail for 26 months.

The intruder was identified as Tabarak Hussain, son of Mistri Malik, a resident of Sabzakote, Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

He was earlier apprehended on April 25, 2016, while trying to intrude along with his younger brother from the LoC in the Jhanger area.

Recalling the day, in 2016, sources said that the Army observed the movement of three suspects trying to cross the LoC. However, only two suspects, Tabarak Hussain and his younger brother, Haron Ali, could be apprehended.

Earlier on August 11, two terrorists carried out a ‘fidayeen’ attack on an Army camp in Rajouri district in the early hours, killing three soldiers. Both attackers were gunned down in the four-hour firefight that followed.
The sentries challenged the two terrorists who lobbed grenades while attempting to gain entry into the post. However, alert troops cordoned off the area and engaged them in a firefight, thereby pinning them.

In the ensuing gunfight, the two terrorists were killed. Six soldiers of the Indian Army were injured in the operation and of them, three bravehearts succumbed to injuries while repulsing the suicide attack, he said.

The slain army personnel were subedar Rajendra Prasad of Maligoven village in Rajasthan’s Jhunjhunu district, rifleman Lakshmanan D of T Pudupatti village in the Madurai district of Tamil Nadu and rifleman Manoj Kumar of Shahjahanpur village in Haryana’s Faridabad.
