Prasar Bharati Launches 'SHABD' Initiative

team TNIUnion Minister for Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Singh Thakur, has launched ‘SHABD’ – an initiative by Prasar Bharati to provide shared audio-visuals for broadcast dissemination. The aim is to counter the dominance of news agencies and their paid services in India. Thakur emphasized that India’s flagship broadcasters Doordarshan and Akashvani will offer news visuals and audio free of cost to media and the public, upon registration.

Speaking at the launch, Minister Thakur stated, “In local languages, and from every corner of the country, information will be available. Wherever there was a small newspaper, magazine, or channel facing difficulties in accessing information, Prasar Bharati has now provided them with a network for 24 hours, 365 days, absolutely free for the next 365 days.”
