team TNIUnion Minister for Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Anurag Singh Thakur, has launched โ€˜SHABDโ€™ โ€“ an initiative by Prasar Bharati to provide shared audio-visuals for broadcast dissemination. The aim is to counter the dominance of news agencies and their paid services in India. Thakur emphasized that Indiaโ€™s flagship broadcasters Doordarshan and Akashvani will offer news visuals and audio free of cost to media and the public, upon registration.

Speaking at the launch, Minister Thakur stated, โ€œIn local languages, and from every corner of the country, information will be available. Wherever there was a small newspaper, magazine, or channel facing difficulties in accessing information, Prasar Bharati has now provided them with a network for 24 hours, 365 days, absolutely free for the next 365 days.โ€
