SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the combined edition of the Jammu Film Festival (JFF) and the International Film Festival of Srinagar (TIFFS) on Wednesday at Aquaplex Crown, Bagh-e-Bahu, Jammu.

 

Addressing the gathering, Sinha congratulated the organizers and participants, highlighting the participation of entries from over 50 nations as evidence of Jammu and Kashmir’s dynamic and thriving environment under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

“Peace, flourishing cinema, and economic growth go hand in hand. Those dreaming of disrupting progress or restoring pre-2019 chaos will face strict consequences,” Sinha stated. He assured the public that security forces are vigilantly countering anti-India elements and separatist agendas to uphold national unity.

 

Sinha urged filmmakers to harness their art to inspire positivity, advance social harmony, and prioritize the nation’s interests. He emphasized that cinema, as a significant cultural force, has fostered global connections and serves as a medium for entertainment, education, and the promotion of human values.

“Meaningful films balance enjoyment with social relevance, shaping equality and eradicating social challenges,” he said.

 

Highlighting J&K’s progressive film policy, Sinha outlined initiatives such as reactivating cinema halls in Kashmir, offering incentives to filmmakers, and streamlining permissions through a Single Window portal. He also announced that J&K would host an international film festival next year.
