NEW DELHI: In an insightful conversation with The New Indianโ€™s Executive Editor Rohan Dua, Gadar 2 director Anil Sharma shared fascinating anecdotes about his children, highlighting their unique journeys and the influence of his family on his storytelling. Known for films that weave patriotism with family values, Sharma opened up about his son Utkarsh Sharmaโ€™s disciplined life and his daughter Kairvina Sharmaโ€™s musical aspirations.

Talking about Utkarshโ€™s education, Anil revealed, โ€œUtkarsh studied for five years in the United States at Chapman University. Heโ€™s a first-class-first student and a very focused individual. Unlike many star kids, he chose to explore the world humbly, cycling and using buses and trains instead of indulging in luxury.โ€ He further praised his sonโ€™s acting evolution: โ€œUtkarsh adapts to his characters. Be it the chocolate boy look or the rugged prisoner in Gadar 2, he molds himself completely.โ€

Sharma also shared his pride in Utkarshโ€™s performance as a child actor in Gadar 1: โ€œAt just five years old, his performance was remarkable. Even now, his commitment and brilliance shine through. People often ask me why Utkarsh? And I tell them, not because heโ€™s my son, but because heโ€™s the perfect fit for the role.โ€

Turning to his daughter, Kairvina, Sharma described her passion for Western music: โ€œKairvina has always loved English music. She studied at the London School of Contemporary Music for four years and now writes, composes, and produces her songs. Sheโ€™s creating her own identity, and I couldnโ€™t be prouder.โ€ He recounted her involvement in Gadar 2: โ€œShe composed and sang a track for a party sequence in the film. She said, โ€˜Baba, Iโ€™ll do this for you.โ€™ Itโ€™s incredible to see her chart her own course.โ€

Through films, I want to entertain and move people.โ€ He credited his upbringing and his parentsโ€™ values for shaping his artistic vision. โ€œWhen my father made movies like Shradhanjali and Hukumat, I learned that cinema has the power to evoke deep emotions and create lasting change.โ€

As he prepares for the release of Vanvaas, Sharma described its essence: โ€œThis isnโ€™t just a film; itโ€™s an emotional movement. Itโ€™s about reminding the younger generation of their duty towards their parents. Parents give us everything, but as lifeโ€™s dust settles, we forget to honor them. I hope this film inspires families to reconnect and embrace each other.โ€
