AMARAVATI: In a bid to capitalise on the prevailing anti-incumbency sentiment, the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and the Janasena Party, led by actor Pawan Kalyan, have unveiled their initial roster of candidates, comprising 118 names, for the upcoming Assembly elections in Andhra Pradesh. However, the final lineup remains pending as negotiations with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are yet to be concluded.
TDP leader Chandrababu Naidu recently held discussions with Prime Minister Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi. Despite these talks, the BJP has not officially confirmed its participation in the alliance.

As per the preliminary list, TDP nominees will vie for seats in 94 constituencies, while Janasena will contest in 24 constituencies.
“This coalition is aimed at securing the state’s future. It marks the first step towards a significant endeavour,” remarked Naidu during a press briefing at his residence in Undavalli, Andhra Pradesh, regarding the TDP-Janasea alliance.
The allocation of seats for the remaining 57 out of the total 175 Assembly constituencies is anticipated to be disclosed shortly.
Under the alliance pact, Janasena is slated to contest three out of the 25 Lok Sabha seats in the state.

Nevertheless, the uncertainty surrounding the BJP’s involvement persists, as discussions between TDP and BJP leaders remain ongoing. With the elections for the Lok Sabha and Andhra Pradesh state Assembly looming, and the announcement of the electoral schedule approaching, the decision regarding BJP’s alliance participation remains pending.
The Jana Sena Party, spearheaded by renowned Tollywood actor Pawan Kalyan, which officially forged an alliance last September, remains hopeful of BJP’s inclusion. However, there has been no official communication from the BJP’s national leadership, prolonging the political suspense.

“Amit Shah extended a formal invitation to Naidu to rejoin the National Democratic Alliance, which Naidu has accepted in principle. Hence, the alliance appears to be near completion,” noted TDP spokesperson N Vijay Kumar.
