SRINAGAR: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah presided over a crucial high-level meeting today in the national capital to assess the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, the Union Home Secretary, the Director of the Intelligence Bureau, the Chief Secretary, and the Director General of Police attended the review session Senior officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Union Territoryโs administration were also present.
This meeting followed another significant security review held yesterday, where Chief of Army Staff General Upendra Dwivedi, the Home Secretary, and top officials from the Ministry of Home Affairs and the Army joined discussions on the regionโs security landscape.
During the deliberations, Amit Shah reaffirmed the governmentโs unwavering commitment, under Prime Minister Narendra Modiโs leadership, to eradicating terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir. He highlighted that sustained and well-coordinated efforts have substantially weakened the terror network in the region.
The Home Minister instructed all security forces to intensify counter-terrorism measures and pursue a โzero infiltrationโ strategy. He urged agencies to adopt a relentless approach in countering infiltration attempts and terrorist activities, emphasizing the need to completely uproot terrorism.
Shah also pointed out that drug trafficking is a major enabler of infiltration and terrorism, stressing the importance of dismantling the narco-terror network. He directed agencies to take decisive and immediate action against the financing of terrorism through the illicit drug trade, calling for a stringent crackdown on these activities.
Additionally, he instructed authorities to expedite the recruitment process for Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) positions to ensure the efficient execution of newly introduced criminal laws.
Reiterating the Modi governmentโs โzero toleranceโ policy on terrorism, Shah underscored the need for security agencies to remain vigilant and work in close coordination to ensure a terror-free Jammu and Kashmir.
The Home Minister also commended security forces for their relentless efforts, which have resulted in significant improvements in the overall security environment in Jammu and Kashmir.
