NEW DELHI: Digital content creator and podcast host Ranveer Allahbadia, popularly known as โBeerBiceps,โ is facing massive backlash after making inappropriate remarks on comedian Samay Rainaโs YouTube show Indiaโs Got Latent.
As a result, he has lost thousands of followers across his social media platforms.
According to social media analytics website Social Blade, Allahbadiaโs personal Instagram account had 3,439,651 followers on February 9, which dropped to 3,411,862 by February 11โa loss of nearly 28,000 followers.
His BeerBiceps Instagram profile also saw a sharp decline, going from 4,526,528 followers to 4,484,078 in the same period, a drop of over 42,000 followers.
On YouTube, his BeerBiceps channel has reportedly lost at least 50,000 subscribers. The YouTube channel, beerbiceps, had 8.31 million subscribers on February 9, which fell to 8.26 million by February 11.
However, his second YouTube channel, Ranveer Allahbadia, has not witnessed a similar drop and remains steady at 10.5 million subscribers.
Reports also suggest that he may have lost nearly two million subscribers across his channels, but The New Indian could not independently verify this claim.
The controversy erupted after a viral clip from Indiaโs Got Latent showed Allahbadia posing a highly inappropriate question to a contestant:
โWould you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?
The remark sparked widespread outrage, with netizens calling for a boycott of Allahbadiaโs content and urging others to unfollow him.
The backlash intensified after singer B Praak canceled his scheduled appearance on Allahbadiaโs podcast, criticizing him for his โshoddy mindset.โ
โYou promote Sanatan Dharma and spirituality, and host such big personalities and saints on your podcast. Yet, your thinking is so disgraceful?โ B Praak remarked.
Meanwhile, comedian Samay Raina, the host of Indiaโs Got Latent, is also facing criticism on social media. Many users are targeting his brand of dark humor and calling for mass unfollowing of his accounts as well.
