As we enter the year 2023, political parties are already gearing up for 2024 General Assembly elections. The top brass of political parties will kick start their campaign in the state of Bihar from the first week. Apparently, Bihar is first on the to-do lists for JDU, BJP and Congress as Bihar CM Nitish Kumar, Congress Prez Mallikarjun Kharge and BJP National President JP Nadda are all scheduled to address public rallies in the state.

JDU supremo and Bihar CM Nitish Kumar will embark on a yatra from January 5 onwards. Congress President Kharge will also arrive in Bihar on 5th January while, JP Nadda will kickstart his campaign two days ahead on 3rd January 2023.

All three political giants are going to campaign in different parts of the state keeping the 2024 elections in hindsight. It is pertinent to note that the state of Bihar constitutes 40 Lok Sabha assembly seats, making it a high-stakes battle for the political parties to match the winning number of 272.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar will begin his rally from Valmiki Nagar located in the West Champaran district of Bihar. His party’s Sunil Kumar Kushwaha is an elected MP from this LS seat. Nitish Kumar will take a stock of the developmental works and highlight the social ills of liquor menace, child marriage, dowry during his campaign. Nitish’s liquor ban policy was under attack from opposition parties recently, after over 70 people died consuming spurious liquor in Bihar’s Chapra.

BJP National President JP Nadda will reach Bihar on 3rd Jan 2023. He’s scheduled to meet the party workers at BJP state HQ in Patna following which, he’s scheduled to address the public gathering in Goraul of Vaishali district. Reportedly, he will offer prayers at Baba Bholenath temple in Chapra district. It will be an important assignment since the BJP-JDU alliance fell apart in an unceremonious manner. People and political pundits were astonished by Nitish Kumar’s deft maneuvering earlier this year, when he jettisoned his JD(U) party’s larger partner in power – BJP, to form an alliance with his rivals in the RJD, the Congress, and the Left bloc led by CPI (ML) L.

Bharat Jodo Yatra’s Bihar Edition will commence under the leadership of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on 5th January from the Parvat temple in Bihar’s Banka. From the second day onwards, Kharge will pass on the baton to Bihar Congress President Akhilesh Prasad Singh who will then lead the yatra. This first leg of the yatra will take place between 5th Jan and 10th Jan and cover Banka, Bhagalpur, Khagaria districts of Bihar.
