NEW DELHI: Alia Bhatt won her first National Award at the 69th National Awards ceremony for her hard-hitting performance in the film โ€˜Gangubai Kathiawadi,โ€™ directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali.

Bhatt arrived in Delhi with her husband and โ€˜Sanjuโ€™ actor, Ranbir Kapoor. The ceremony is being held at Vigyan Bhavan in the presence of President Draupadi Murmu.

This recognition doesnโ€™t come as a surprise to those who have seen Bhattโ€™s outstanding performance as โ€˜Gangubai.โ€™ However, the Best Actress award is shared this time between Alia Bhatt and Kriti Sanon, Sanon bagged the award for her role in โ€˜Mimi.โ€™

 

Just after the announcement of the National Award winners, Alia took to Instagram and expressed her gratitude to Sanjay Leela Bhansali and congratulated Kriti Sanon for her performance in โ€˜Mimi.โ€™

The actor wrote, โ€œTo Sanjay Sirโ€ฆTo the entire crew..To my family..To my team & last but most definitely not the least โ€” To my audience.. This national award is yours .. because without you ALL none of this would be possibleโ€ฆ Seriously!!!

The actress appeared to attend the award ceremony in her wedding attire, donning an ivory saree with a golden embroidered border, designed by Sabyasachi. She added a touch of elegance with a gajra in her hair, tied in a bun.
