Akhilesh’s Cousin Aditya Elected To ICA Board; Gets Rousing Welcome

Aditya Yadav, the president of the UP unit of the Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party (Lohia), received a rousing welcome at several places in Lucknow on Sunday after being elected as the director of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA).

Aditya is the son of PSP (Lohia) chief Shivpal Yadav. He heads the Indian Farm Forestry Development Cooperative Ltd (IFFDCL).

Party workers led by Yuvjan Sabha state president Ashutosh Tripathi and Lohia Vahini state chief Alim Khan garlanded Aditya at the Lucknow toll on the Lucknow-Agra Expressway.

A huge number of party workers welcomed him at Mohan Trisection, Purana Para, Awadh Chauraha, Bangla Bazar Chauraha, and Command Hospital Chauraha by showering him with flower petals and sloganeering.

“I am overwhelmed by the affection showered upon me by party colleagues. This dialogue will continue,” he told the gathering.

Aditya was elected as the chairman of the ICA in June this year. He has been active in cooperative politics for many years. He became the youngest person to win a seat on the ICA Board in 2017, as per the ICA website.

Aditya says he is committed to working closely with the ICA youth representative and the representative of the Gender Committee on the ICA Board.

Meanwhile, Aditya is set to meet former Uttar Pradesh chief minister and his uncle Mulayam Singh Yadav, the patriarch of the Yadav family, as well as Akhilesh Yadav’s Samajwadi Party.

Notably, the alliance forged by the Samajwadi Party and Pragatisheel Samajwadi Party collapsed after it failed to dethrone chief minister Yogi Adityanath in the last Assembly elections. Shivpal has announced that it will contest the upcoming civic body polls in the state on its own.

During the presidential elections, relations between Shivpal and Akhilesh turned sour when the former publicly criticised the SP chief for extending support to Yashwant Sinha, who once called Mulayam an “ISI agent”.
