Air Force convoy ambushed by terrorists; 5 injured

SRINAGAR: Five members of the Indian Air Force personnel sustained injuries when two vehicles in their convoy were subjected to intense terrorist gunfire in the Surankote region of Poonch district, Jammu and Kashmir, as per sources. Among the five wounded, one airman is said to be in critical condition. Additional forces were promptly deployed to the area, and anti-terrorism operations are currently ongoing.

This marks the primary assault on the armed forces in the region this year, following a series of attacks on the army last year. Post-incident visuals displayed at least twelve bullet impacts on the vehicle’s windshield targeted during the attack.

“Terrorists targeted a convoy of Indian Air Force vehicles in the Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir. The local Rashtriya Rifles unit has initiated cordon and search operations in the vicinity. The vehicles have been safely secured within the air base near Shahsitar.

According to security forces sources, military personnel have sustained injuries. Fortunately, no fatalities or significant damage have been reported thus far. The injured soldiers have been promptly transported to a hospital for medical attention.”
