AIIMS Medico attack| 1st FIR on patient after India’s Health Ministry circular

NEW DELHI: A week after the Health Ministry issued guidelines mandating that FIRs be filed within six hours if a health attendant is attacked, Delhi Police registered an FIR against Israr for assaulting doctors at Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, Usmanpur. Israr, who brought his wife, Sameena Khan (52), for treatment, demanded a specific injection and became abusive when doctors refused. He also made derogatory remarks about the Kolkata rape murder case. The altercation disrupted hospital operations, injuring eight people. Israr was arrested, and the police are investigating further.

 

 

The New Indian has accessed the FIR and video footage of the incident in which Israr could be heard and seen fighting and threatening the doctors.

 

 

“A Person came to the casualty around 9:00 pm on Wednesday and the patient was given medication according to the patient’s complaints (his wife). But he refused the treatment given by casualty doctors on duty. He told the doctors to give his wife a particular injection. He then started hurling abuses at doctors due to which the work got affected,” read the FIR.

 

He came with his wife Sammena Khan (52).

Due to this, the doctors were unable to provide treatment to other doctors. Eight persons including the doctors and patients suffered injuries in the incident.

 

The accused was shouting that he needed treatment of his choice not of doctors.

 

“After this incident, he forcefully came inside the Doctors Duty room and started shouting and abusing. He also started provoking other attendants to beat the doctors. He physically assaulted the doctors on duty,” FIR read.

 

Police said the accused was arrested and they were looking into the matter.
