KOLKATA: After sacking Partha Chatterjee, chief minister Mamata Banerjee on Monday announced to reshuffle her Cabinet on Wednesday.
Banerjee said four to five new faces will be inducted in the Cabinet.
“We don’t have plans to break the entire ministry and form a new one, but yes, there will be a reshuffle. We lost ministers like Subrata Mukherjee and Sadhan Pande, and Partha Chatterjee is in jail,” she said.
The chief minister added, “Someone has to do their work and it is not possible for me to look at everything alone. Four to five new faces will be inducted in the Cabinet on Wednesday.”
Since Partha’s arrest in the teacher recruitment scam last month, speculations were rife that TMC supremo could bring new faces and change portfolios.
In a stern warning, Banerjee said no one will be allowed to tarnish the state government’s image.
In another major announcement, the chief minister said that seven new districts will be created in West Bengal, taking the number of districts from 23 to 30.
The seven new districts are Sunderban, Ichhemati, Ranaghat, Bishnupur, Jangipur, Behrampur and Basirhat.
