NEW DELHI: As Donald Trump surges to a historic win over Kamala Harris, the atmosphere on the ground is buzzing with reactions, particularly from those in middle America. In a street-side vox pop by Rohan Dua, Executive Editor of *The New Indian*, women working at Taco Bell shared candid views on the election’s surprising outcome.
In a sweeping victory, Trump clinched all seven pivotal swing states, including Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Michigan, North Carolina, and Arizona, propelling him to become the 47th President of the United States. Dua spoke with Sheila and Anna, two women at a Taco Bell in the Midwest, to gauge their thoughts on the results and what they expect from a new Trump presidency.
Asked if she anticipated the results, Sheila admitted she was taken aback by the scale of Trump’s victory. “I just expect him to make things better because it really did seem like last time could have been different,” she shared, hinting at hopes for economic improvement.

Reflecting on the last four years, Sheila was cautiously optimistic. “I’m not going to say they were bad, but it seemed like things got worse and could have gotten better.” Now, she looks forward to potential changes, hoping Trump’s second term will be more constructive than his previous administration.
Anna, voting for the first time, also expressed her surprise. “Everywhere, the results were huge,” she said, though she hinted at initial support for Kamala Harris. When pressed, she was uncertain about whether the new administration would bring the exact changes she desired, though she remained hopeful about the overall outcome.

Both women, while hesitant to take sides as ardent Trump supporters, acknowledged the role of Trump’s family and party in his success. “They’re the ones who help him make everything as good as he has been,” Sheila noted, recognizing the sacrifices made by those around him.
