NEW DELHI: Abishek Porel, a 21-year-old cricketer from Bengal, has emerged as a rising star for the Delhi Capitals in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, despite an unconventional start to his journey.
Initially missing the call from Delhi Capitals due to oversleeping and battling an injury, Porel finally got his chance in the 2023 season, where he made a modest start, scoring 33 runs in four matches. However, his determination caught the attention of the team management, and he was retained for the 2024 season.
This season, Porel has been a revelation, scoring an impressive 360 runs at a strike rate of 152.54. His ability to adapt to various batting positions, from opening the innings to batting at No.9, has been commendable.
