NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh on Tuesday moved a notice in Rajya Sabha to discuss the appointment of the vice-chancellor of Allahabad University during the zero hour.
Singh said that rules were violated in the appointment of Prof. Sangita Srivastava. “A professor must complete 10 years of service to be appointed as the vice chancellor of any central university.”
“However, the government overlooked this rule while appointing current VC of the Allahabad University, Sangita Srivastava,” Singh alleged.
He also alleged that Srivastava’s appointment as an assistant professor was also “suspicious”.
Srivastava was appointed as the VC of Allahabad University, which Singh called “Oxford of the East”, in December 2020. She was hailed as the first woman VC of the university.
