NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) chief convenor and Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday announced at least 300 units of free electricity if they voted to power in the coming state assembly elections.

Kejriwal said, “It will benefit the people of Gujarat as it benefited the people of Delhi and Punjab.”

He also announced that if their party comes to power in the state they will ensure a 24-hour power supply in the state and also waive off the pending domestic bills of all the people till December 31.

He said as per the billing cycle in Gujarat, people get their bills once in 2 months; with 300 units of free electricity per month, there will be a subsidy of 600 units in every bill.

The Delhi CM said AAP proved that it is possible to provide free electricity in Delhi and Punjab and now the party has set its sight on the welfare of the people of Gujarat.

“Giving ‘Free Ki Revri’ to the public does not cause turmoil like the one we are seeing in Sri Lanka but giving ‘Free Ki Revri’ to some friends and ministers does. Former is a blessing sent by God, latter is an unforgivable sin,” Kejriwal said.

“Providing free electricity and that too for 24 hours is an unprecedented move in the history of mankind. India is proud that it happened here,” he added.
