NEW DELHI: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) sources have revealed that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh has not fully cooperated with the ongoing investigation into the alleged bribery attempts on AAP MLAs. According to sources, Singh has failed to provide crucial details regarding individuals who received offer calls. During the probe, he only disclosed the name of AAP MLA Mukesh Ahlawat.
Earlier, Singh had claimed that seven AAP candidates were approached with bribe offers, but he later revised his statement, increasing the number to 16. This inconsistency in his statements has raised concerns, prompting the ACB to scrutinize the matter further.
Meanwhile, the ACB has issued a notice to Delhi Chief Minister and AAP National Convenor Arvind Kejriwal, summoning him for questioning regarding allegations that AAP MLAs were offered bribes to switch sides.
On Friday, AAP filed a complaint with the ACB, alleging that its MLAs were receiving threat calls. According to the party, the callers were offering โน15 crore to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) or face consequences. Sanjay Singh, who filed the complaint, accused the BJP of indulging in unethical practices.
โBJP is the most corrupt party in the country. They have a history of toppling governments in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Arunachal Pradesh. Do we need a certificate from them to prove they are honest?โ Singh said while speaking to the media.
Singh also mentioned that after AAPโs allegations, Delhi BJP President Virendra Sachdeva approached the Delhi Lieutenant Governor (LG), who later wrote to the ACB regarding the matter. Singh reiterated his demand for a thorough probe and stated that he had provided the phone number from which AAP leader Mukesh Kumar Ahlawat was contacted.
The ACBโs investigation is ongoing, and further developments are expected as the agency examines the claims and counterclaims in this high-profile political controversy.
