NEW DELHI: AAP Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh has accused the Modi government of interfering in the management of religious institutions, alleging that its true intent is to transfer the lands of temples, mosques, gurdwaras, and churches to business allies like Adani and Ambani.
Singh made these remarks during a media interaction, where he expressed serious concerns about a new bill proposed by the central government.
โThe Modi government is bringing a new bill with the sole intention of giving the lands of religious institutions to its friends Adani and Ambani,โ Singh said, claiming that the government has already handed over significant public lands to private entities.

โPM Modi gave railway land to his friends, and now he has given 13,000 acres of army land in Ayodhya to Adani,โ he added.
Singh also referenced the controversial farm laws, which were met with massive protests from farmers across the country. He argued that if those laws had not been opposed, โAdani and Ambani would have already occupied the farmersโ lands.โ
Singh asserted that the Modi governmentโs actions are in direct violation of the Indian Constitution, which prohibits government interference in the management of religious institutions.

โThe Constitution clearly states that no government will interfere in the management of religious institutions, whether it is a temple, mosque, gurdwara, or church. But the efforts being made by the current Modi government are aimed at taking over these lands and handing them over to their corporate friends,โ Singh said.
He emphasised that the bill is unconstitutional, violating Article 26 of the Indian Constitution, which guarantees the freedom of religious denominations to manage their own affairs.
Adding further he said that AAP would strongly oppose the bill, which he believes threatens the constitutional rights of religious organizations and could lead to the takeover of their lands across the country. โThis is a direct attack on the rights guaranteed by our Constitution, and we will resist it with all our strength.โ
