The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday launched an initiative, titled ‘Degree Dikhao Campaign’, where party leaders will publicly share their educational qualifications every day.

The campaign began with Delhi Education minister Atishi presenting her undergraduate degree from the University of Delhi and two master’s degrees from the University of Oxford.

“From today onwards, every day an AAP leader will put out his/her degree in front of the country. I am starting this by sharing my three degrees – a BA from the University of Delhi, a Master of Arts from the University of Oxford and another Master of Science from the University of Oxford,” Atishi said.

She also appealed to all the leaders of the country to come forward and show their degrees to the public so that the citizens of the country could know how educated their leaders are.

Appealing particularly to the leaders of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Atishi said that if their leaders and senior politicians have degrees, they should present them before the country.

“Whenever we study in a college or university and reach a prestigious or constitutional position, it not only reflects on the college or university but also fills the students of that time with pride that someone among us has achieved such a high position. It also motivates other students,” she said.

In addition, she urged leaders across the nation to participate in the campaign and publicly share their degrees, so that citizens could become aware of the educational qualifications of those who are taking decisions for them and the country.

Responding to a query regarding LG raising questions on CM Arvind Kejriwal’s IIT degree, Atishi said, “IITs are claimed to be the most prestigious institutions in India and across the world. People who studied there are leading companies across the world. It is really sad that today questions are being raised on the degree of IIT too. LG too should come forward and share his degree with the public.”
